Terms & Conditions: Payments, Fees and Refunds

1. General

  • These terms apply to every payment made to SEC, including membership fees and event registration fees.
  • By making a payment, you agree to these terms.
  • These terms apply alongside the SEC Charter. If they conflict, the Charter prevails.
  • SEC may update these terms. The version on the website at the time of your payment applies.

2. Membership fees

  • Tier 1 (Community Pool) membership is free.
  • Tier 2 (Active SEC Member) membership requires a one-time registration fee of RM 10. It is open to active students of Sunway University and Sunway College.
  • No renewal fee applies within the term of your membership.
  • The registration fee cannot be discounted, waived, paid in part or changed.
  • Your membership is registered only after your payment is verified.
  • Membership fees are never refunded.

3. Event registration fees

  • The fee for each event is stated on its registration page.
  • Tier 2 members may receive priority registration and free or discounted entry to ticketed events, as stated for each event. Tier 1 members do not.
  • Your event registration is confirmed only after your payment is verified.

4. Payments and verification

  • Pay by bank transfer or QR code, using only the official SEC payment details shown on the website or registration form.
  • SEC is not responsible for payments sent to any other account.
  • Keep your proof of payment. You must submit it with your registration.
  • A late, missing or unverified payment means you are not registered until it is verified.

5. Refunds

  • Membership fees are never refunded.
  • Event registration fees are generally not refunded. Instead, you may choose either:
    • credit toward a future event fee, or
    • a donation to one of SEC's charity events.
  • Credit does not expire.
  • Exception: a refund may be issued only if SEC changes the event date and the new date clashes with your university commitments.
  • You must provide sufficient proof of the clash. A request without proof will be rejected.
  • The evidence will be reviewed and approved/rejected accordingly.
  • Approved refunds are paid back to the person who made the original payment.
  • Cancelled events: if SEC cancels an event entirely, registration fees cannot be refunded. The credit and donation options above still apply.
